Week 3 Recap
The Perfect Eight Become the Perfect Three
Week 3 brought the first major shakeup of the 2026 Sunday Gridiron Challenge season. Eight teams entered the week undefeated. Only three walked away at 3–0: the Sullivan Smashers, Babcock’s Businessmen and Arkport Aztecs.
The Sullivan Smashers kept rolling with a 33–27 victory over Memphis Mafia, giving Kevin Sullivan three straight wins and control of the Miller North. Babcock’s Businessmen also remained perfect, surviving a tight 34–32 battle with Lockness Monsters. Neither Sullivan nor Babcock has put up the gaudiest point totals in the league, but through three weeks they've done the only thing that matters: win every matchup.
Arkport had the closest call of the three. The Aztecs escaped Fenton’s Flea Flickers 37–36, improving to 3–0 with 120 points. Omaha is now just a game behind them after beating previously unbeaten Helton’s Steelers 32–31, setting up a huge Omaha-Arkport showdown in Week 4.
Week 3 Results
Miller’s Hitmen got back in the win column with a 37–35 win over Zeeb’s Gamblers, while Blacksburg picked up its first victory, 36–34 over Kruep’s Krew. Pine Village beat Rhode Island 40–37, Ball Ground stunned previously unbeaten Windy City 40–33, Webb’s Warriors beat Greta’s Bombers 35–32, and Frankfurt Galaxy defeated Milla’s Mayhem 37–29.
On the Riney side, Rockwell earned its first victory by beating Cincinnati 37–31, while NCH Hooligans put up 42 points in a 42–41 thriller over Arlington Heights. Binghamton had the week's offensive explosion, scoring a Week 3-high 48 points to beat Newcastle 48–35. Waxhaw defeated Clarence 35–28, Tampa knocked Nottingham from the unbeaten ranks 42–37, and Sierra Nevada handed Marlton its first loss, 38–36.
There were some especially painful losses. Fenton, Helton and Arlington Heights lost by a single point, while Kruep’s Krew fell to 0–3 despite having 111 total points—the same total as 2–1 Miller’s Hitmen and more than several teams with winning records. Arlington Heights may have the toughest argument of all: they are 1–2 despite leading the entire league with 124 points scored.
Looking Ahead to Week 4
The schedule isn't giving the remaining undefeated teams an easy road.
Sullivan Smashers (3–0) face Rhode Island Quahogs (1–2) as Sullivan tries to make it four straight. Babcock’s Businessmen (3–0) get Ball Ground Blitz (2–1), and Ball Ground just knocked off previously undefeated Windy City with 40 points. That could be one of the week's most dangerous games for a perfect team.
Then there's the headliner: Arkport Aztecs (3–0) vs. Omaha Nighthawks (2–1). Omaha has won two straight and just ended Helton's perfect start. Now the Nighthawks get an opportunity to do it again against the last undefeated team in the Riney Conference.
Elsewhere, Miller’s Hitmen look to keep pace with Sullivan against winless Kruep’s Krew, Tampa and Waxhaw meet in a battle of 2–1 teams, and Marlton faces Nottingham with both clubs trying to rebound from their first losses.
Three perfect records remain. Sullivan. Babcock. Arkport.
By the end of Week 4, we'll find out how many are still standing.
